Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about his financial journey, saying there was a period in his life when he struggled financially.
The singer made the remarks while discussing wealth, privilege and the difference between living a luxurious lifestyle and having personal financial independence.
According to Davido, he has encountered people from wealthy families who appear extremely successful because of their surroundings, expensive homes and security details, but may not necessarily have significant personal wealth.
He explained that living in an upscale area such as Ikoyi or having access to luxury properties and police escorts does not automatically mean an individual has substantial money of their own.
Davido also reflected on his own experiences, acknowledging that his financial situation was not always as comfortable as it is today.
His comments have generated discussions online about inherited wealth, family status and the realities behind outward displays of affluence.
The singer's remarks have also prompted conversations about how financial success should be measured beyond appearances, expensive possessions and social status.
