Nollywood actor and lawyer Kenneth Okonkwo has been appointed spokesperson to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for the 2027 presidential campaign under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The appointment was contained in a letter personally signed by Atiku, who said Okonkwo was selected based on his competence, integrity, communication skills and sound political judgment.
“I am pleased to offer you an appointment as my Spokesperson for the 2027 General Elections in Nigeria,” Atiku stated, expressing confidence that Okonkwo would make valuable contributions to the campaign.
Reacting to the appointment, Okonkwo thanked Atiku for the confidence reposed in him.
“I give God all the glory to be appointed by His Excellency Atiku Abubakar as his Spokesperson. I thank HE AA for the immense confidence reposed in me,” he said.
Okonkwo disclosed that his discussions with Atiku and leaders of the ADC focused on issues affecting the South-East. He described the former vice president as a leader who values dialogue, consultation and compromise.
He also expressed appreciation to Dr. Kashim Imam, former ADC National Chairman Ralphs Nwosu, Dr. Ekene Onwuka, as well as his family, friends and supporters for their encouragement throughout his political journey.
Okonkwo, who previously served as spokesperson for Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election, now joins Atiku’s campaign team as preparations for the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum.
