MTN Alerts Nigerians to Fake 25GB Anniversary Giveaway Links
MTN Nigeria has cautioned its subscribers against fraudulent messages and websites promoting a fake 25GB data giveaway allegedly linked to the company’s 25th anniversary celebration.
The telecom giant said the warning became necessary following the circulation of several online posts and links claiming that customers could claim the anniversary data bundle through unofficial platforms.
According to MTN, subscribers should be extremely careful with such offers and avoid clicking suspicious links, submitting personal information or making payments to websites that are not operated by the company.
The telecommunications provider stressed that the genuine 25GB anniversary offer is accessible only through the MyMTN NG App and the MTN eShop.
Eligible customers can log into the MyMTN App and select the “Redeem Now” option on the anniversary banner. The offer can also be accessed through the MTN eShop by following the instructions provided.
MTN also noted that some eligible subscribers may receive an SMS containing a link through which they can access the promotion.
The company urged customers to rely exclusively on its verified communication channels for information about the anniversary campaign.
MTN further advised eligible subscribers to redeem the 25GB bundle before the stated expiry time, as the free data will only remain valid until the specified deadline.
The warning follows the spread of unofficial messages promising subscribers free MTN data in exchange for personal details, payments or participation in suspicious online activities.
Customers are therefore advised to ignore such links and verify any MTN promotion through the MyMTN NG App, MTN eShop or other official MTN channels before taking action.
