Stakeholders of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency have reaffirmed their commitment to party unity and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections. The resolution was reached during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Umunya following the conclusion of the party’s primary election. Speaking at the meeting, the NDC candidate for Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Hon. Uchenna Okafor, popularly known as Wiper, thanked delegates, party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him during the primary election. Okafor also commended his fellow aspirants for their sportsmanship and maturity throughout the exercise, describing the primary as a process that strengthened the party’s cohesion and preparedness for the 2027 elections. He assured party members of his commitment to providing purposeful representation if elected and urged members to remain united and focused on strengthening the party ahead of the polls. The House of Representatives candidate also reiterated his support for equity and zoning, appealing to residents of Ayamelum Local Government Area not to assess Oyi Local Government Area based on the performance of any single elected official. According to him, Oyi has produced leaders who have made meaningful contributions to the development of the constituency, and he pledged to uphold that legacy through responsive and inclusive representation. Also addressing the gathering, the Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Tony Nwoye, commended party members for their loyalty and dedication to the NDC, expressing confidence that the party would achieve success in the 2027 general elections through unity and sustained grassroots mobilisation. Nwoye highlighted constituency projects facilitated across the senatorial district, including completed projects in Okpoko, Fegge, and Anam, while noting that additional projects are ongoing or planned for communities such as Anaku, Ifite-Ogwari, Awkuzu, and Nteje. He also disclosed that an empowerment programme for residents of Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency would be rolled out in the coming months to support livelihoods and community development. The senator urged party leaders and supporters to intensify mobilisation efforts across wards and communities as political campaigns draw closer, stressing the importance of unity and active participation in the electoral process. The meeting concluded with stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the party’s structure, fostering internal cohesion, and working collectively towards the NDC’s success in Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency and Anambra North Senatorial District during the 2027 general elections.
