A railway worker has died following a collision between two freight trains during overnight shunting operations in Germany, according to authorities.
The accident occurred near Munich, where the impact of the crash caused two freight wagons to derail and fall from a bridge onto a major road below. Emergency responders discovered the body of the railway worker while securing and cordoning off the area beneath the bridge. The incident also caused significant property damage. Several vehicles parked along the road were severely damaged after being struck by the falling wagons and debris from the crash. A coach travelling underneath the bridge at the time was hit by a falling object. Fortunately, the driver—the only person on board—was not injured. Police have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the collision. Authorities have not yet released further details on what led to the accident.
