China Reaffirms Commitment to Stronger Nigeria Partnership at CPC Anniversary
China has reiterated its commitment to expanding cooperation with Nigeria as the Communist Party of China (CPC) commemorates its 105th anniversary, promising closer collaboration in governance, economic growth and strategic relations. Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, China's Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, said the CPC's leadership has been central to China's rise into one of the world's largest economies and a key contributor to global economic development. According to the ambassador, the Party has guided China's transformation through decades of economic expansion, social stability and technological advancement since its establishment in 1921. He noted that the country is now focused on high-quality development as it transitions from its 14th to the 15th Five-Year Plan. Yu said China's development model was built around its own national realities rather than foreign templates, describing it as an alternative path that could offer lessons for other developing nations. He identified self-reliance, people-focused governance, institutional reform and continuous policy innovation as the pillars of China's progress. He also highlighted achievements such as the elimination of extreme poverty, broader access to education, healthcare, pensions and social protection, alongside ongoing anti-corruption reforms. The envoy added that China continues to contribute to global development through initiatives aimed at improving international cooperation, security and sustainable growth. On relations with Nigeria, Yu described the two countries as long-standing partners whose ties have continued to deepen over more than five decades of diplomatic engagement. He said cooperation has expanded across multiple sectors, supported by growing political trust and mutual respect. The ambassador reaffirmed China's support for Nigeria's development goals, stressing that Beijing remains committed to working with Abuja on initiatives that promote economic progress and improve citizens' welfare. He also said both countries would continue strengthening collaboration through platforms such as the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation while aligning development priorities with Nigeria's Renewed Hope Agenda. Looking ahead, Yu expressed confidence that China and Nigeria would further enhance their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through increased dialogue, stronger policy coordination and broader practical cooperation aimed at delivering mutual benefits and supporting regional and global development.
