Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested two men suspected of vandalising electric cables in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the operation was carried out on June 25 after police officers, working alongside local vigilante members, acted on credible intelligence about individuals allegedly dismantling electric cables along the Ibabu–Ugiliamai Road.
The suspects reportedly attempted to flee when they noticed the security team. During the operation, one of them sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment, while both suspects were identified as 28-year-old Osakwe Sunday and 34-year-old Ekene Obocha.
Police said vandalised electric cables were recovered from the suspects and have been kept as exhibits while investigations continue.
Reacting to the arrest, Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, warned criminals to stay away from government infrastructure and public property, stressing that the command remains committed to tracking down and prosecuting offenders.
He also encouraged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that can help prevent crime.
