Street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, was disqualified during his celebrity boxing rematch against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha after leaving the ring before the opening round had been completed.
The contest, billed as "Unfinished Business," was staged at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, following months of rivalry after their first meeting.
Portable looked sharp in the early exchanges before the bout turned chaotic, with both fighters becoming entangled in a wrestling-style tussle that forced the referee to intervene repeatedly.
After the bell signalled the end of the opening round, security personnel entered the ring to calm the situation. Amid the confusion, Portable walked away from the contest, prompting loud reactions from fans.
Although he later returned after being persuaded by officials, the organisers ruled that his earlier exit amounted to abandoning the fight and disqualified him, awarding victory to Okocha.
Speaking before the bout, Portable said he hoped for happiness and success for himself and his family.
The result gives Okocha redemption after losing their previous encounter, while ending Portable's unbeaten run in their celebrity boxing rivalry.
