SASA Cracks Down on Sanitation Offenders as Onitsha Residents Observe Monthly Environmental Exercise

The Anambra State Anti-Touting Agency (SASA) has arrested several persons for violating the state’s monthly environmental sanitation directive, which includes the desilting of drainage channels and proper waste evacuation.
The suspects, comprising motorists, traders, and other residents, were apprehended along the Onitsha-Owerri Expressway for allegedly opening their shops, moving around, and engaging in other activities during the sanitation exercise, in violation of the government’s restriction order.
Officials of the agency said the offenders would be taken to the SASA headquarters in Awka for further processing, adding that the enforcement was necessary to ensure strict compliance with the state’s environmental sanitation policy.
Across Onitsha, however, residents largely complied with the exercise, as many were seen clearing blocked drainage channels, cleaning their surroundings, and disposing of refuse properly in line with the government’s environmental sanitation campaign.
